Got mental health issues? Depression? Well, the Hocane sisters have discovered the reason, y’all. And guess what? It’s “all because of food” that you put in your system. Not chemicals in your brain. Not genetics. Not personal problems or a tragedy from the past. It’s FOOD. Eat right, feel right. Problem solved.
This happened when Urwa Hocane and Mawra Hocane were on Good Morning Pakistan with Nida Yasir. To be fair, they were talking about food and diet and how healthy diet can help you lose weight. All good stuff. But then the elder sister, Urwa, decided to chime in with her philosophy of how what you eat impacts your mental health. Here’s their conversation:
Urwa Hocane: aur aapki mental health pe bhi barra farak parta hai, k aap apne andar kia dal rhay hain. Just by the way, aaj kal kitne maslay hain k, depression ho gya, mental disease ho gai
Host Nida agrees: ye sab khanay ki wajah se ho raha hai
Mawra Hocane: It’s what you put in your body

Now, food does have some impact on mental health, but to say that food is the only reason for depression and mental health issues is ridiculous. Especially in a society where mental health is not given the due attention that it deserves. Educate yourself women because it’s not the food, but the level of your ignorance that is causing me depression.
