One of Africa’s largest bus booking service comes to Pakistan. Swvl launched in Pakistan with it’s services starting in August 2019. The startup has plans to launch in other cities, including Karachi and Islamabad.
For starters, swvl is similar to Uber. The key difference is that it let’s you book rides on a bus right from your smartphone. And of course, it’s cheaper. There are Android and iOS apps that you can use to available buses and book them for a time that you need.
Swvl is headquartered in Cairo, Egypt. They are targeting developing markets to offer cheaper rides to different routes. The launch of service in Pakistan is very exciting news. The market has great potential with very few contenders. Especially after Uber’s acquisition of Careem, there’s been almost no competition.
