One of the great features that YouTube has is that it lets you create playlists. Playlists can be very useful and can serve many purposes. Whether you own and operate a YouTube channel or just use it as a regular user, you can create and manage playlists.
YouTube offers this great feature to “Save” videos. You can save videos to “Watch later” list. This is a private list that only you can see. And as the name indicates, this is a way to bookmark videos so you can watch them later.

But it’s not a playlist. And you cannot save videos to a Playlist unless you create one. Only after you have a playlist created will it appear in the save list options. So let’s first see what the playlists are and how you can create one.
What are YouTube Playlists?
- In YouTube, a playlist is a collection of videos that users can hand pick and manage.
- A playlist can be themed collection of videos, or a just a set of random videos put together by one or more users.
- Playlists can be public, or private.
YouTube Private vs Unlisted vs Public Playlists
There are 3 types of YouTube playlists: Private, Public, and Unlisted.

How to Create Playlists on YouTube
Step 1: Go to YouTube.com and sign in with your Google account.
Step 2: Once you are signed in, go to this URL: youtube.com/view_all_playlists
Step 3: Click “New playlist” button. Choose a title for the Playlist and select the playlist type: Public, Private, or Unlisted. Then click the “Create” button.
Step 4: This will create the playlist. You will then be redirected to a page where you can view and edit the playlist. Make any changes that you may want to see.
Step 5: Now when you are watching a video, just click the “Save” button. A dialog box will open and all your playlists will appear below “Watch later” option.
You can add as many videos to a Playlist as you want. Also, the name, description and all the settings of the playlist can be edited any time. You can make a private playlist public or unlisted, or vice versa.
